The Making Headway public workshop programme was developed and delivered by Making Headway milliners, Sue Carter and Marie Thornton who are both experienced millinery tutors.

A series of 5 one-day workshops took place in April, May and July – and they were all FREE. Participants travelled quite a distance for the sessions which recevied rave reviews from everyone!  Over 60 people took part in the programme.

The workshops were geared towards total beginners and covered the basics of making a hat in sinamay or wool felt. The workshops also gave people the opportunity to use hat blocks from Hat Works’ collection. Have a look at photos taken at the sinamay workshop in April here. Although the prorgamme of free workshops has now ended Hat Works are running courses in millinery for beginners from September 2014. There will also be opportunities to use the blocks for those who have the basics and just want to experiment, practice and perfect their millinery technique.
